Hire for a Stunt Driving charge – 3 Things you need to know

Who do I hire for my Stunt Driving charges in Ontario.  This does not have to be a stressful experience.  If you get a good feeling from the individual you are speaking to on the call, then that is the right decision.  If they have a solid strategy, and can properly explain your charges, the penalties, and potential outcomes, then go for it.  Here are some things to look out for when making your calls:

Don’t fall for talk of a trial to get the charges dismissed

If you watch a lot of Law & Order on TV, this sounds great.  However, on a consultation phone call, there is a zero chance that the legal representative will have had time to examine your evidence and determine if the case can get withdrawn.  It’s almost impossible.  And, considering that the Stunt Driving law falls almost entirely on the calibration of the radar or laser, what argument is this legal representative planning on making?  Disputing the radar?  Good luck with that.

This is incredibly dangerous for you for a few reasons.  First, this legal representative is taking advantage of the fact that you have limited knowledge of the actual law.  Second, by talking about trials and getting charges dismissed without any real evidence, they are asking you to put your licence at serious risk of a 1-3 year suspension.  It’s not ethical and it’s careless.

Simple – check out their Google Reviews

Google reviews are the best way to determine the quality of the legal representative for your charges.  Google reviews have a high standard, and are able to detect false reviews.  This means that you are looking at real clients leaving real reviews about the law firm you are considering for your Stunt Driving charge.  A credible firm will have recent reviews and this can help you make a decision on who you will call for advice.

Find a law firm that specializes in Stunt Driving charges

Every charge is different, and is under a different part of the Highway Traffic Act.  Each charge has a different strategy and is handled differently in court.  So if you get a Stunt Driving charge, find a firm that specializes or focuses on Stunt.  Dealing with a Stunt charge is very different than dealing with a stop-sign ticket.  It take sa different type of negotiation and defence.  When it comes to your drivers license, it is not a “one-size fits all” defence.  Call around until you are comfortable with the individual you have spoken to on the phone.  Your defence is everything for Stunt Driving in Ontario
