• Application for a Pardon in Canada – How do you get fast approval?
• Every client we speak to wants to get their Pardon fast.
• And we get it.  The faster you can get your Pardon, which is now called a Record Suspension, the faster you can move on with your life.
• To get your Pardon fast, you need to work around these 2 realities.
• First, you cannot apply before you are eligible.
• And second, there are no ways to “cut the line” to speed up your approval process.
• However, knowing these 2 realities, to get your Pardon fast, you need to get these 3 things right.

1/ Get the Measurable Benefit/Sustained Rehabilitation Form right

• The hardest part of the Record Suspension Application is getting the Measurable Benefit/Sustained Rehabilitation Form right.
• People have problems with this Form because the answers are not straightforward.
• You need to answer the questions in a way that will convince the Parole Board of Canada that you deserve to get your Record Suspension.
• Make sure you avoid these 3 mistakes.
• First, don’t challenge the validity of your conviction.
• Second, don’t give one-word answers, write in-depth explanations.
• And third, don’t say you “can’t remember.”  

2/ Apply at the earliest possible date

• The Parole Board of Canada is clear that you cannot apply before your eligibility date.
• So, the fastest way to get your Pardon or Record Suspension is to apply on the very first day you are eligible.
• To get this timing right, you should start your document preparation early because document preparation takes time.
• Ideally, you should start about 1-year before you are eligible.
• Doing so will put you in a position to get your Pardon as fast as possible.

3/ Make sure there are no mistakes

• This may seem obvious, but the reality is the Parole Board of Canada returns a huge number of Record Suspension Applications due to mistakes.
• Mistakes will cost you time and, in some cases, rejection.
